WEDDINGS
There are a number of things to consider when booking a Wedding:
As the law stands at the moment, it is not always possible to get married in the church of your choice. If you live in St. Mary's Parish then you are entitled to be married in the church. If, however, you do not then a special license may be possible, otherwise you will need to attend the church regularly for 6 months in order to get onto the Church Electoral Roll (not the same as the other electoral roll).

Please note that if you or your partner have been previously married and have been divorced, you will be asked to have an informal chat with the acting Team Vicar, at whose discretion weddings of divorcees may take place.
Once you have chosen a provisional date, (or dates) check with the Parish Office (in the St Paul's Centre attached to St Mary's) on Saturday mornings between 10.45 and 11.15am and see if that date is available. We suggest you come along and do this first before you book reception, honeymoon, etc. as the date you require may not be available.
You will be asked to fill in a form and return it with a deposit to secure your date. You will also be given details of fees for the service, bells, organist, flowers etc as required. (Please note that if you wish to video record the ceremony there is a separate charge, for reasons of copyright, and this can only be done with the permission of the officiating minister).
If you do live in the parish, then Banns will be called not more than 3 months before the wedding date. Banns are a declaration of your intent to marry, and are read on three consecutive Sundays at the 9.30am Eucharist. If you or your partner live in a different parish, then you will need to arrange to have Banns read in both places.
Within 6 months of the wedding you will receive a form to fill in about the ceremony itself. Details of readings, music, hymns, etc are to be decided in conjunction with the officiating minister. This letter will also inform you of a date for a rehearsal, and a date for an evening session of marriage preparation.
We aim to ensure that you wedding will go smoothly
and pray that God will bless you now
and in your future life together.
If you would like to book a wedding, or find out more, then please call in to the Parish Office on Saturday mornings between 10.45 and 11.15am. We will be pleased to answer any queries you might have.
