A Sure Start Children's Centre
Welcare's work was recognised with the award of £370,000 grant in May 2011 from the £100 Million Transition fund which is part of the big lottery fund. This is to help them to update how they operate so that Front line services- communications- and any projects can prosper despite heavy cuts in public service funding. The size of the award is due to Welcare's already excellent organisation.
Some comments from CEO Anne-Marie Garton. "This review of our services" will enable us to move forward with a refreshed vision. The changes we must make are about being fit for purpose in the very different environment now confronting us. We know that we make a real difference to peoples' lives and we must be sure that we communicate this clearly.
We thank all at St, Mary's. Our contribution of Prayers, Food (Harvest) Crisis food (when cupboards become bare!) and Toys plus Gifts at Christmas are so important. Even with this seemingly large amount of money, Welcare could not survive without our help, (as from other churches as well). It is an enormous task which I am proud (with your help) to be part of. Long may it continue!
Blessings to you all, from,
Bobby Clarke
Deanery Representative.
