Pulse
Pulse has been going steady, there is a core group of young people who attend, and are in contact with me as a youth worker and the church. Pulse does lots of varied activities, and has benefited greatly from the new church hall, as we have been able to do more varied and fun activities like pizza and muffin making.
Numbers at pulse still fluctuate, however there is a core group of young people who regularly attend.
De Stafford
At the local school, I run a lunch time group which involves teaching the young people about Christianity as well as watching an episode of the Simpsons, this has been successful, and numbers vary from twenty to thirty young people.
On a Monday I spend most of the day in the inclusion unit in De Stafford: the inclusion unit is a way in which the school brings young people back into lessons when they have been out for a while. In the inclusion unit I have worked with a different range of young people with different needs - some have been expelled, some have missed lots of school for medical reasons, and others have learning differences. This experience has been great for me and hopefully I am helping the young people to have a healthier education.
Y-Church
Last year, the leaders of Y-church decided to change the age range of Y-church, allowing some young people who are a little bit younger to attend as we felt they maybe too old for junior church. I think this has been very successful and we have had some really great sessions in the morning with some of the young people. We tend to get between six and ten every week and are enjoying our time, now in the St. Pauls centre as I feel it is more suited to the group.
Youth Alpha
Youth Alpha started in February 2012, and is a course about Christianity for young people: the group has so far been very good with eight attending most weeks. I am very pleased with the progress of youth alpha and I am looking to carry on a similar group once the course has finished.
