On 17th October 2009, Father Nigel Dawkins (our ex-curate) married Catherine Lewis-Morris at St. Mary's Church in a relaxed and joyful ceremony. Everything ran smoothly and the church was full of friends and relatives: the music was led by an augmented choir of more than twenty singers and the hymn singing was thunderous.
The wedding began with the bride entering to Jeremiah Clarke's Trumpet Voluntary, with trumpet solo and organ accompaniment, and the wedding service itself was followed by Nuptual mass.
The gospel reading was about the wedding at Cana when Jesus turned water into wine, and during the sermon immediately following, the preacher opened a bottle of wine and handed a glass of it to the groom.
At the end of the service, the bridal party retired to the chapel to sign the registers while the choir sang two anthems by Rutter - "Look at the World" and "The Lord Bless You and Keep You". The Bride and Groom left church to the sound of Mendelssohn's Wedding March played on the organ.
The buffet reception was held at the Clubhouse of Surrey Golf Course, in Chaldon.
Below are photos of the couple as they left the church after the service (click on the photo for a larger version).
